Read both sides of the call as it happens, in the Redtie app on your computer or phone.
Live captions — a two-way real-time transcription of the call, labelled by speaker, while you talk. Redtie was designed first for people who are deaf or hard of hearing, and it’s a full phone line: a US Redtie number of your own (you can forward your existing number to it), calls in and out, and an AI assistant for the calls you’d rather not take live.
When the AI assistant answers for you, follow the conversation live as captions and take the call over any time.
A phone call is live, in audio, and then it’s gone. Redtie is built so nothing on the call depends on hearing it the first time.
The detailsThe pharmacy reads out a time and an address.
Both appear on screen as they’re said. Read them back instead of asking for them again.

The keypad stays on screen next to the captions, so you can read the menu and press the key.
Not nowA call comes in and you’d rather not take it live.
The AI assistant answers. Follow the conversation as captions, take the call over from the assistant at any point, and get a written summary by email or text.
AfterwardsYou need to check what was said.
Every call is saved as a transcript. If a caller asked for an appointment, it goes on your Outlook calendar as a tentative event.
A real-time transcription of both sides of the call: your words and theirs, labelled, as they’re said. Read the address, the time and the name instead of asking for them again.
Hide either one and an automated phone menu becomes hard to get through. Here both stay on screen.
Incoming calls are something you can see and feel, not only something you hear.
Tapping a contact never silently dials. You decide when a call starts.
Read captions on your Mac, Windows PC or in a browser, not only on a small phone screen. Android works too.
Every call is saved in writing, so you can go back and check what was said.
When a caller wants to book, the AI assistant adds the request to your Microsoft Outlook and Microsoft 365 calendar as a tentative event. You keep it or decline it.
Using Apple Calendar? The call summary has an “Add to calendar” button. One tap and the appointment is in.
Contacts come from Microsoft 365 and your phone’s address book. When someone in them calls, the AI assistant greets them by name.
Let the AI assistant pick up, in a male or female voice. The assistant asks who’s calling and what they need, and reads the callback number back to check it. You can follow the whole conversation as captions, take the call over from the assistant at any point, and get a written summary by email or text.
In the US, free captioned telephone service (IP CTS) is available to people with hearing loss, paid for by the FCC. If you mainly need captions on personal calls, start there.
Redtie is for when you need more than captions: a number for work or a side business, an assistant that answers when you can’t, and a written record of every call. It’s a paid service, and it isn’t an FCC-certified captioned telephone service. Redtie may not support 911 or other emergency calls.
Redtie isn’t a medical device or a hearing aid.
Try it free for 7 days. Keep it for $25 a month per line.
Live captions are a two-way real-time transcription: speech recognition turns both sides of the call into text as the words are said, labelled by speaker, on the same screen as the call. There’s no human captioner on the line, and nothing extra to install.
Speech recognition is good but not perfect. Names, numbers and noisy lines can come out wrong, so the transcript is saved afterwards for you to check details, and the assistant reads callback numbers back to confirm them.
No. In the US, people with hearing loss can get free captioned telephone service (IP CTS) funded by the FCC, and if you mainly need captions on personal calls, that is worth looking at first. Redtie is a paid phone line, $25 a month, with its own number, an AI assistant and call summaries. It is not an FCC-certified captioned telephone service.
No. Redtie runs on Mac, Windows, Android and in your browser, so you can read captions on a laptop or desktop screen as well as a phone. The iPhone and iPad apps are in App Store review.
Yes. Set the AI assistant to answer always, or only when you don’t pick up. You can read the conversation live as captions and take over, and you get a written summary afterwards.
Don’t rely on it for emergencies. Redtie may not support 911 or other emergency calls, so keep your regular phone, and any relay service you use, for emergencies.
